How to check the strength of your data signal

I just saw this article on Clark Howard.com. It's got a secret code that you can enter into your phone keypad to find out the strength of your providers signal. I hope this is OK to post and I'm not sure if this is the right form to post so if one of the moderators feels necessary to move it I will completely understand. This is called Field Test mode and has been around for a while ... I used it for a while but went back to the visual indicators because it was easier for my brain to figure out what they actually meant Some do prefer this though! Have you tried it? If so, what did you think?

It will if you want it to. I can tap on it and change it back and forth. Or you can always disable it if you don't like it. Are you on iOS 11 beta? They say it doesn't work on that. If not, it should work.

Don't know then. Works on my 6s Plus. I've never seen that menu option like that. I see one, but it's different. Did you try tapping on any of those options? What's under LTE?
