If it's brand new/unopened, I've seen them go for over $1000. Why not just check eBay and see what they are selling for?

I did look at ebay. I just don't understand people paying over $1000 for a phone.

Mine is not new, been using it since release day. But it is perfect condition. If I thought I could get over $1000 for it I would sell it in a heartbeat. I mean I like the phone, but it is not THAT great. I could buy my wife a nice Galaxy S3 and myself a nice 4s or something for what I could sell this phone for.

I was asking here to see if you folks think those auctions on eBay are for real or bogus. I mean, $1299 for an iPhone 5??? Really??

They could go for $1000 like the above poster said... but they could also go for NEGATIVE whatever you paid for it... when the guy that you shipped it to claims he never got it, and disputes it with paypal, then paypal usually sides with the buyer and freezes your account, and refunds the money to the buyer. Your out the money and out a iphone5.

This is why its better to make less money, and just do a local sale.

We sold my buddies unlocked 16GB on eBay last week for $800...and the person sent the money as soon as the auction ended. Yes, the prices are legitimate.

Just list it with a reserve. If it sells it sells, if it doesn't it doesn't. And as a previous poster said, be sure you send it insured.

We found Craigslist to be substantially lower than eBay (mainly because people on eBay are either buying to use internationally or buying them and then selling them internationally). All of the iPhone's are in pretty high demand, but you may not have the blanket of buyers for the more expensive 64GB...I'd say there is no question on whether you should buy an unlock for it though, you'll spend at most $10 and make at least $100 premium over locked variants.

I wouldn't say they are all bogus. Supply and demand my friend.... when the PS3 launched, I bought three of them. Each one sold for over $1200. Same with other items that are wanted, and the supply is low.

I dont know about you, but I get signature required packages sitting on my front door all the time. Buyer will still claim he never got it, and and paypal will again side with him... and it will be up to you to claim the insurance...

Im just saying its much safer, to just sell it locally.
