How long can your home button be used?

The Home Button has a limited duration. What about yours? About mine, it still goes strong within a year.

Welcome to iMore Jack

There is no known limit set for the home button I've seen iphone 3G's still being used with the original home buttons

This is becoming a nasty rumor spread around to discredit Apple hardware

Don't believe the hype

Enjoy and Post often

Welcome to iMore. As far as I can tell the home button should last as long as the iPhone itself. I know plenty of people with the iPhone 4s that have the original home button. Enjoy.

I've never had an issue with any of the buttons on my iPhones.

I don't believe it. I have never had a problem with the home button on any iPhone.

Every switch/microswitch has a rated number of clicks before failure. Being a custom part specifically made for iphone, as opposed to omron microswitches used in mice, we may never see this info from Apple. Never had homebutton issues on 4s/5/5s.

On the iPhone 5 its also extremely easily to swap the home switch/button but on 5s it's not possible at this time as each specific button is associated to the specific device it's installed on (because of touch ID. i.e if I take my working 5s home button and put it into your 5s and vice versa, neither will work with touch ID.

I haven't had a problem with my home button. An old iPhone 4 I have still has a perfectly working home button.

I have never had any issues with my home button either. Actually, it seems to feel better over time (easier to press).

I agree with this. Especially with the "clickiness" of the 5S' home button. It feels a lot better after a while.

Never had an issue with my 4S or my 5S or my iPad2.
Nevertheless, I use Assistive Touch on all devices.
Good Luck

I never had button problems other than my sleep button getting jammed on my 4S which was my fault. My 5S has been solid since December

How does one count how much they use the home button? Lol

I've had every iPhone and 2 iPads, a few iPods with no problem.

Well, to save the home button from wearing out in 5 or 6 years, one can use the home button in Assistive Touch in Accessibility. :D
