Battery life is stellar on wifi and decent on 3G. I am not in an lte area so I keep it off. This screenie was from last week, mostly on wifi but a few decent stretches on 3G.

I think the main question is what exactly are you guys are doing on the phone..I have owned my iphone 5 for two weeks and my battery is so so..If i use the engadget app or facebook while playing music in the background...I lose about 1% of battery life in every 3 minutes..I am coming for an android phone which had horrible battery life but the iphone has better standy time than my android phone..If i actually use apps and have the screen on, the battery drains a tad slower than my previous phone (Galaxy S2)...What are you guys doing to produce the battery times (good or bad)?

My iPhone battery life is terrible. I'm coming from the iPhone 4S & the Nokia Lumia 900.
I must say I got to walk with my charger everywhere and it's alway plugged into my car.
4-5hrs of battery life is not even exceptional when my Nokia Lumia 900 gives me almost 8-9hrs with out charging durning the day.
I really love my iPhone 5 but the battery sucks!!!

Correction your iphone 5 battery sucks mine is great never less than 7 hours usage if I'm on wifi its more like 9 to 10

- Set up iPhone as new last Friday. Then added iCloud to get my bookmarks and notes.
- Third charge (did one full discharge, but will try not to charge below 50% from now on)
- about 5-6 hours of wifi browsing (lots of Instagram- pulling lots of data), safari, twitter, facebook (location off), 75 messages, downloaded 2 apps
- 1 hour call on 3G
- brightness at minimum
- 1 push email account
- used location services once for <1min
- 5 hours of sleep
- and with 1/5 batt left!

I'm happy. (On the first day LTE alone killed my batt 40% in 2 hours so I was a tad worried there, but seems like this is normal)

How in the hell did you get down to 1%?

Every so often I let it run until it shuts itself off. Seems to have better battery life the following few charges after that. It will hang on 1% for a little bit usually. Sort of like when the gas gauge in your car is on E with the light on...you really have like 20 more miles :)

My battery life hasn't been too well since I purchased my iPhone 5 on Oct. 26. Thankfully, over the last few days or so, the battery has improved/stabilized.

It definitely has some issues, though. For example, the other day I left it charging overnight and as soon as I unplugged it in the morning, it decreased to 99%. How is that possible?

Anyway, like I said, it has improved since then.

This was after very little use, but good nonetheless.

This is my regular usage now. Is it good?

Pattzilla, it really depends on what you're doing for those 7 hours and 22 minutes. If you're gaming, that's pretty awesome. If it's 7 hours of music, that's terrible. Tell us what you're doing for those 7 hours.

I remember when I got my first flip phone, they told me to let it charge for something like 18 hours because the battery was new. I've always been paranoid about how I treat "new" batteries. I just got my iPhone yesterday, are there any steps I can take early on to ensure I get the best battery life out of my phone?
