how does Itunes bill for purchased music

expensive song. Typically, all your iTunes purchases are tied to your apple id and a credit card you have on file. You should see a bill on your bank statement. You can always dispute the charge with Apple. You sure you didn't download an entire album? What song did you buy and was it via iTunes on your computer or via your phone?

You should have been billed for just a single song. Obviously there has been a possible mistake made. But as we are not related to Apple and are a complete other forum, your best bet is to go to Apple's 'Report A Problem' page and go from there.

Were you looking at the actual receipt from Apple? If not, did someone else buy other apps or in-app purchases that all got charged at the same time?
