How does Family Sharing in Apple Music work?

Currently my husband and I share an Apple ID and all our music. This has always worked well for us, but we have just signed up to Apple Music and have found that we cant simultaneously play music from 2 different devices. For this reason we are considering Family Share. So one of us would have to create a new Apple ID. Can we still share all our music? Or are they completely separate? Any ideas how to make it work for us?

Welcome to iMore! Everything will be kept separate except that the billing will be centralized to whomever organizes the family sharing. Setting up family sharing alone will not do it for you though. You'll want to make sure you change your Apple Music subscription over to a family plan as well.
