How do you search for a contact on the screen

I am trying to assist a person who uses the talk option due to poor eyesight. Please advise me where to find all the instructions to operate the iphone 5s

To search for a contact "on the screen", simply swipe down from the middle of the screen to reveal the Spotlight search function. After that, enter the contact you're trying to locate.

You can also have Siri do it for you.
