How do I unlock my iPad?

Ipad Lock up

I recently installed the IOS 8.1 update on my Ipad through wifi. I took about 4hrs and now it is lock up. When I turn on the system I get an Itune icon with a power cord icon and arrow pointing toward the Itune icon and nothing else. I have tried the hard reboot 3 times and still the same result. Any ideas?

I never do updates OTA (over the air) because that has happened to me several times. I had to plug into iTunes and restore and of course lost everything. Hopefully you are using iCloud backup?!?
