How do I remove contacts that are no longer applicable on my iPhone 4S?

I want to remove contacts no longer applicable on my iphone 4s. How do i do this/

1. Initiate the Contacts app.
2. Select the contact you want to remove.
3. Select 'Edit'
4. Scroll down to the bottom and select "Delete Contact".

Alternatively, you can login to the email account the contacts are associated with and then mass delete them.
