How do I prevent app updates from changing location permissions?

I have recently noticed that when an app is updated, sometimes it changes the permission I had set for location services for that app.

How can I stop this from happening?

Apps should not be able to override the permission I set with every update.

Are you changing these permissions in the settings app on your phone or in the third party app itself?

They are not necessarily changing your settings, but are probably being installed with location services being enabled by default, in my opinion.
