How do I move a picture to a new folder and delete it from the main folder?

When I copy and paste a picture and put it in a new folder then go back and delete it from the main folder, both get deleted. How can I fix this?

You can't fix that. All photos in Camera Roll are supposed to stay there. You can have photos sorted in folders but you can't remove them from Camera Roll without removing them also from those folders.
