I downloaded Google Hangouts on my iPhone to replace imessage as my default messaging app, but I can't link it to my phone number, even after it asked for my google account.

Upon further reflection, I wanted to point out that I use my gmail address for the Google Hangouts App on my iPhone and it works just fine.
