how to hook up apple tv 4 with home theater

i want to hook up my apple tv 4 with my home theater system for better sound quality.
it was possible in apple tv3 thru optical cable which is non existent in apple tv 4 model

I take it your home theatre system doesn't have hdmi ports? Can you not use the audio output option from the TV?

I think Apple did us a disservice when the eliminated the optical audio out connection on the ATV 4.

Now to get the sound to my receiver, I need to use the headphone out jack on the TV to connect to the receiver...clunky...and I cannot see any rational reason to eliminate the optical audio connection.
