How do I get rid of the favourites bar on IE Google and Google Chrome?

I didn't ask for it. It simply appeared with stuff I don't want. How do I get rid of it?

Since this is an Apple forum & I'm a Mac user, I'm not really familiar with the tips and tricks of the above mentioned browsers. You might be able to find an answer on our sister site Android Central or you can wait for someone that's familiar with this to respond. Hope you'll get your answers soon.
