How do i get rid of a trojan virus

I have received a message stating that I have a trojan virus

Now this is impossible to get on an Apple product. It would either be Malware or Adware. But you have not offered us enough information to properly help you. Need to know what device. If you received the message as an email or text message. And if it is just popping up on your device. If you where visiting a web and some pop-up said you have a virus and then invites you to install MacKeeper or whatever, just ignore.

If you were using a well known antivirus just allow it to disinfectate your system, in case cant disinfect or requires registration to allow disinfection, then I suggest you before purchase an anti-virus to check the publisher's background, there are solid publishers as McCaffe and not so recommendable as MacKeeper (avoid at all cost).

In extreme circumstances (trojan/hi-jack) re-install mac os and its apps (ONLY SIGNED/APP STORE).

Well it's not impossible, BUT it's highly unlikely that you actually have a trojan, especially if we are talking about a phone. As other have said it's likely a browser hijack.
