How do I get MacKeeper off of my system?

I got scammed with the pop-up, let them mess with my computer and put MacKeeper on and now my files are a fouled up. I have backups, but I want to get the bad software off of the machine before I restore my files.

The same thing happened to me when I bought my MacBook Air several years ago.
I didn't have the benefit of the link above provided by Bigeric23, so ended up having to call Apple support.
