How do I download an app from the App Store?

I've not downloaded an app before, but i need to download one now.

Go to the App Store application on your iPhone/iPad, select the app you would like to download, and hit the button (GET or a price) on the right to download.

Either via iTunes and the App Store and sync to the device, or... The App Store on the device. It's intuitive.
