How do I disable the itunes password for free app downloads?

I

iMore Question

O.K. I actually know how to do this, and believe I have the settings correct for my daughter's Ipad Air 2 with IOS 9.2, however it does not work. The settings look correct but it still asks for a password when I download a free app. This is maddening!!! If this is a known bug, please let me know, and I will be at peace.

I've not heard of this being a known bug but that isn't to say it isn't and I just haven't heard of it.

I take it you have tried a reset? (Hold power and home until Apple logo appears then let go)

Go to Settings > General > Restrictions (if you don't use touch ID) > Password settings> Toggle on or off for app store purchases.
Note: If you use touch ID, it will be set to on by default. Also, each time you reboot, or restart your device, iTunes will ask for password for free purchases once. Afterwards, it won't ask.
