How do I delete my messages from either the junk mail box or the sent box?

How do I delete my messages from either the junk mail box or the sent box

Once I have received and read an email and no longer need to keep it - I am not able to delete it / move it to the trash box so I would like to know how I delete the message

Swipe to the left on the item(s) and then select "Delete"
