How do I delete maps history on iPhone 7

I have read on forums on previous iPhones that you go to search and then favorites you should see "delete recents"but that does not pop up. Please help. Very annoying

Initiate the native Maps app, swipe up from the bottom to reveal your recents. Swipe left on each item you want to delete.
