I have never tapped undo. In the middle of something if I don't want to hit the back button I just side to side and POOF it is gone.

I've never experienced that. I always have to tap on the undo button.

If you sent it already and it's sending as a regular text - hurry and click the message and click more and then delete it before it send. If it send as iMessage it's most likely too late (sends near instantaneously).
