how to delete specific text messages in iOS8? it doesn't work the same as in iOS7?

I don't want to delete the entire conversation, just specific messages to free up space.

in iOS8... on the particular message - tap/hold the item, select more - you'll have a circle with a check in it... and more circles in front of other message bubbles... select any additional bubbles... then the trash can...
