I have a jailbroken 1st generation iphone. Is it possible for me to update it to version 3, and if...how am I able to do it. Would it be easier to take it to a specialist phone dealer or can it be simply done myself?
Any help..? thanks

Which firmware are you on now? You will need to update the phone to 3.0 or 3.0.1 and then Jailbreak it again. You don't need to take it to a specialist there are alot of information on here and other sites as well as videos on youtube. Just search and read make sure you know what you're doing, have all the files and software you need and then do it. If you're not comfortable doing it then sure find someone who can do it for you it shouldn't cost that much. Just make sure you don't upgrade to 3.1 I don't think JB is out for it yet although I'm getting early info otherwise but I don't fully know yet.

thanks, but some retail phone person says 'no'

thanks for your advice. I have a version 1.1.4.
It was originally jailbroken. SOme specialist did echo what you said although they said if u try to update it than the phone wont work anymore and will be frozen....Is this true?
Also, can u recommend any reputable tutorial sites so I am able to do it myself?
thanks

Yeah there's tutorials in here, also try Apple & iPhone News | Forums | ModMyi.com there's forums in there on JBing and search youtube for Jailbreak Iphones you'll prob find a ton of videos there also. I don't think you need to take it to anyone, but that's up to you if you're really not comfortable doing it then try to find a friend or someone you can pay to do it. It's not extremely hard but especially now with 3.1 there are ways you can mess up the phone. So like I said just do your homework, get the software, files, watch a couple videos and there's always posting here if you run into any probs during the process.
