How can I get Facebook Messenger to stop trying to send a message?

I tried to send a message but it is stuck. It keeps saying sending. This has been happening for the last 24 hours. I have tried resetting my iPhone 5, quitting the app, and putting the phone on airplane mode all night. Nothing works. Still trying to send a message.

logout FB messenger and sign-in then retry. hope, would be work in your case.
