Help, Iphone was jailbroken, restored to factory settings now not recognised in itune

Hello, hope someone can help. I bought a jailbroken Iphone and ran it on Vodafone with no problem. Ended up doing a full restore to factory settings, stupid error. Now it is not recognised on itunes. I need to re-jailbreak but cannot get into the phone at all. Sim not recognised. How can I start from scratch again? Thank you in advance.

Possible Fix

I had a similar problem after jailbreaking and then restoring. I found that I needed to delete itunes on my computer and then reinstall it. After that, itunes started recognizing my iphone again.
