Has anyone had an issue in which TouchID is not accepting your fingerprint?

I kinda doubt that it now works "100% of the time" I've worked on a lot of iPhones for a lot of people and I've never seen one work "100% of the time."

Re: Unlock acting up

Since then it works as advertised, but be aware that "as advertised" actually means that it only works about 80% of the time. One of the drawbacks to how accurate it is, is that the fingerprint sensor will only accept "perfect" input. That means dry, clean fingers in a perfectly balanced (humidity wise) environment.

I have the most issues with Touch ID when my fingers are coated with Cool Ranch Doritos dust

Re: Unlock acting up

This seems similar to me - it's was fine at start , not too fast but then over time ceased to work despite various factory resets and cleaning on 6s
Now if it works at all it's very slow
Apple keeps saying wait for the next update but still it goes on
Been told it's not a hardware issue
Wonky-ish sums it up

Not so much with my primary finger, but after a period of time the secondary finger will NOT be accepted. Let's say I use my left thumb for the primary fingerprint. I'm right handed. If for whatever reason I try to use the right thumb, it will not accept it and open the phone. So I delete the right thumbprint and register it all over again. All is well for awhile and then it's back to not recognizing the right thumb. Absolutely baffling and annoying. Time and again, so it's not like it's a fluke or dependent on which update iOS has at the moment.

I just tested this theory as I tend to just use my right thumb to activate Touch ID. My secondary finger(s), all activate the Touch ID on my 6s Plus with precision and speed just like my right thumb.

May I suggest washing your hands throughly paying special attention to your finger tips (let dry), before setting up your Touch ID.

I've noticed that when my fingers get real dry, like after handling some boxes, my chances increase to have my fingerprinted not recognized.

I've also heard that fingerprints get worn with age. Apparently that starts to happen in the 50's.

I generally only have this problem when my thumb is wet or damp. Happened to me a few days ago. I was out in the rain and went into a store and couldn't unlock my phone with Touch ID. Twice, I had to enter my passcode. It was a pain because I already had packages to carry.

I found a fix. Just remove your previous fingerprints and again add them to your iphone. That should definitely work. I tried that and It worked.

I have found if there is anything on my fingers, it sometimes has problem- but overall is pretty reliable. I would suggest you just reset your fingerprints.

I have an iPhone 6s and out of the box had no issues with the fingerprint sensor. But as many have stated with time (probably most prominent in the last 2 months) I have seen that it will often give me issues off and on with finger recognition. I clean my phone quite often and can attest that in my case it is unrelated to dirty/wet fingers. I remember this happening also with my iPhone 5s as well. I'll probably be deleting and resetting my fingerprints again which had helped when I had the issue on my iPhone 5s.

Mine works about 98% of the time without issue. the only problems I've had is after washing my hands or putting on lotion. If it doesn't scan after a couple attempts it will tell me that I have to enter the passcode to enable Touch ID.

I generally dont have any problems with my fingerprint not being accepted, the only exceptions are when I am at the gym and my fingers are sweaty or Im eating finger foods and may have some slightly greasy fingers. But on any normal time it works great... to great actually... sometimes i just want to check the time so i hit the home button and it will immediately unlock the phone instead of showing me the lock screen. lol

Sometimes the Touch ID don't work because, in my case, my fingers are often oily or dirty!
So that I always clean the Touch ID and my finger when I want to unlock my phone!
