Its faster, but I don't really feel any changes other than that. Apple has added some new features, but I hardly use them anyway.

However it is a nice update, apart from some apps, and things having issues.

Yes but then what? the other side is empty, my dock won't come up and I have no way to bring up a 2nd window.

After playing around with it, it seems only apps that are already open can be played in the second window as I'm unable to open my dock as well. On top of that it seems only certain apps are compatible for split screen. It wouldn't let me put iTunes in one of the windows.

So far I'm pretty disappointed with the way Apple implemented this feature. Microsoft did it perfectly.

I finally updated my iMac and my work iMac! It's definitely faster and more fluid. I'm still afraid to update my MBP from Mavericks though.
