i think with the already rumored (true or false) 5s this summer again may deter people from being on the fence with the 5 right now.

Realistically, how fast is the 5 compared to the 4s? All I care about in a phone is speed. I know the 5 has a faster processor and more ram, but is it really noticeable if I only have about 12 apps on my phone?

Yeah I am on the hesitation boat as well. I skipped the an iPhone or the first time in my life and I must say it is truly killing me. I have had every phone since the first one and I can definitely feel how dated my 4S is. With that being said i skipped the upgrade just due to the screen. Making it taller just looks weird to me. I think my solution is to pick up a Nexus 4, use that for a year then get the 5S. In Canada we have reallly crappy three year contracts and for me to upgrade to an 5 would be around $650 (for the 64GB) and then be locked in for another three years. I think I will wait for the 5S and use the Nexus 4 in between. I mean it's only 350 unlocked.

Agreed. I don't want to give up my unlimited data..... Also by the time I am eligible for an upgrade (June), the rumors and speculation of the next iphone will be in full swing.

Still wish Verizon would allow me to have a 1 year plan again.... Those were the days.

Heard that it's not significantly faster than the 4s in anything other than games.

It's crazy that 2 nights ago I loved my 4S and didn't want to upgrade. I upgraded because I switch carriers and wow...I wouldn't trade my five for anything! It just feels so right. It's definitely worth the upgrade. Flawless.

It is not a night and day difference like the data speeds are...but it is plenty noticeable when it comes to certain things (especially graphic intensive games or apps with lots of animated menus and what not). As far as having multiple apps open at the same time, I never noticed much of a performance lag on the 4S, even with a bunch of apps open at the same time...the same goes for the iPhone 5 obviously. Where i do notice a difference other than within apps though is switching speeds, it's not blazingly faster, but it is faster between the two when you switch apps.

If the processing speed between the 4S and the 5 is all you're concerned with, and becomes the deal breaker because of such...the 4S is a perfectly capable phone for your needs. The iPhone 5 shines in other categories unrelated to the processor, and has data speeds that are in a whole other league, but if you're hung up on the processor comparison, besides on paper, you're not going to be wow'ed consistently.

And while i know i represent only a small portion of people who own the iPhone 5 and have observed people's switch over, i don't know anyone who has made the switch that isn't 100% satisfied with their choice or the iPhone 5.

The 1gb of ram and LTE speeds is what got me to switch from the 4S to the 5. I was so annoyed with the lack of ram on the 4S when it came to app switching. I was tired of switching to other apps to come back and find the splash screen load up again on most apps. I also didn't want to be stuck on sprints crappy 3G with no hope for a better speed upgrade. The ability to take stills while recording video is a nice touch as well! The fast processor is a major plus especially within the maps app! 1.3GHz Dual Core Vs. 800 MHz dual core is a no brainer!
