Okay so you want to enable geotagging, or maybe you want to disable it, let's figure this out.

The first step is to open up your "settings" icon or your iPhone.

Next, go to your "Privacy" icon and click on it.

This brings up "Location Services". Click on its icon.

The final step brings you to all your location information. Find your camera toggle and either turn it on or off. That's it. Geolocation done.

is this why or how google tracks you?

The why has a very extensive answer, which I don’t know how to explain here.

The ‘How’ is easier to explain.
These toggles are there to allow or deny any app that asks for your location to access the data.
If it’s disabled for an app, that app simply can’t access your location data via your iPhone.

Geolocation data does have benefits. For example, if you use Google Photos to automatically backup and store your images, you can search for a specific location and Photos will use this data to show you all relevant images. That’s super handy.

But, like most things, there is a dark side: when you share an image online, that means most anyone can also find this info. So if you take an image at home, then share it online, you potentially just gave the world your home address. Scary.
