Grey message bubbles with the iMessage App

When i trxt my sister its uses i message settings i see blue bubbles
But whdn i text my cousin on his iphone its gray
Not szying imessage
Ut others he texts see blue

When YOU send an iMessage to another IOS user yours will be blue. When YOU send a text to a NON IOS user it will be green and answers back to you are normally in grey. If you are getting anything else, Turn iMessage off and reboot your phone and then turn iMessage back on.

Also make sure he has iMessage turned on.

im old and some these modern dodads kill me

I've seen a few of these from replies from a couple of people this past week, but I assumed they were network-related problems.
