• After more than 15 years covering everything Apple, it’s with a heavy heart we announce that we will no longer be publishing new content on iMore and the iMore forums will be closing as of November 1st, 2024.

Great Apple News is now displaying ads.

I'm using ad blockers just wish we could also block ads within apps. Oh well time for me to put Apple News in the Apple junk folder on my phone.

Wait for it lol.... I think Apple might be slowly testing it to a group of users. Hate Ads!!!

You and me both! I hate ads I find them intrusive, unattractive, annoying. Bad enough we have to see them everywhere in our daily lives. Can we have just ONE medium without ads?

I thought Apple introduced ad blockers in ios 9 with the intent of not putting ads in the News app?

I thought Apple monetized the News app so in app ads weren't necessary? They received a % of revenue from the news publishers?

Must be on a trial basis because on the few occasions I've launched the app since I don't see any ads. The only other thing I've seen twice within the app was something about "This story is no longer available on News."

I suppose that since there's no ad breaks in the news stories were presented with ***looking at you Facebook Paper*** Apple has to make revenue somehow. Doesn't Apple already have enough billions?
