Hello everyone. I bought my wife the 4S for Christmas, she is coming over from Android, her old phone was the EVO 4G. Anyway she has noticed the 4S does not have turn by turn navigation like her old EVO had both with Sprint's navigation and Google's navigation apps. Does Apple have good navigation app that has turn by turn vocal announcements? Your help will be greatly appreciated...if we cannot find a good one it might be deal breaker for her as she uses it a lot.

Thanks in advance.

I have wasted a lot of money on some of the apps mentioned in those links and never found anything that compared to what I had with Android for free. I do what Steve Wozniak does, keep an Android around when I need a quality navigation.

Apple doesn't but there are plenty of apps to choose from. I'd highly recommend TomTom or Navigon. In my experience you get what you pay for.

Again, TomTom and Navigon are quality. They're certainly not free though. I can't see dealing with my old Android device for nav but to each his own.

I shelled out for the expensive paid navigon. Because it has on device maps so I dont use data and can navigate without a cell signal.

Garmin is having an app sale during MacWorld - their North America apps are $10 off...

+1 on Navigon. It's good on an iPhone, awesome on an iPad... even a Wifi iPad... where you need a bluetooth GPS puck, or BadElf device to plug in.

I'm looking to get a navigation app as well. Looks as though Navigon is taking a lot of heat in iTunes as far as reviews. sure doesn't look like the best based on that?

The crap being given Navigon in iTunes reviews is unwarranted. They changed their business model, making it an app +maps on a subscription basis. In my experience, Navigon is as close to the end user experience I'm accustomed to with my Garmin Nuvi. Do not let iTunes reviews dissuade you from the app.

I once used android stock nav for a road trip and it put my about 1/2 hour in the wrong direction :S.

I replaced my Tom Tom device with the app when I got the iphone and haven't had an issue yet.

I never purchase apps on iTunes based on the reviews. If I did that, I wouldn't have half of the great apps that I enjoy using now. Including Navigon. ;)

While Navigon isn't free, you do have the option to purchase limited areas where you travel most. Navigon has been well worth the money that I spent for it. Hasn't gotten me lost once, even when I travel on some back roads here in the Burbs.

well if your just using it for the united states which navigon should i get?

Depends on if you need it for the whole US or not. I don't travel out of the East so I only purchased it for that area. I would try to decide based on your travel needs.
