When I download a standard photo or video from google photos back to my iOS camera roll everything works correctly, but if I try to download a live photo back to my camera roll I get the following message "trouble saving to camera roll" is this a bug?

From what I can tell, you can't download the live photos back to the camera roll. I've looked for a way. You will just have to view them in the Google Photos app. You can always convert them to video. Then store them on cloud based apps like Box and Dropbox. Then download back and convert back to live photos. I think there's apps for that.
