Get rid of spotlight

I don't like how when I swipe all the way to the left that spotlight shows up. Is there a way to disable that and not have it show up at all? I tried turning off Siri suggestions and also unchecked all of the boxes. Any help?

You'll get used to it. Give it a few weeks and you'll adjust.

My original iPad Mini does not have that option under IOS 9...
