Gaming on the 3GS vs 2G Touch

I have a couple of games (Tiger Woods golf and X2 Football) which do not play as smoothly on the 3GS compared to the 2G Touch.For instance with X2 football panning shots (during an upfield long pass) on the Touch are noticably smoother.

I would have expected the 3GS to be as least as good at playing these games as the Touch if not better.Is is because the games were optimised for the old hardware?


BTW there appears to be a 'bug' with Tiger Woods golf on the 3GS.The shadows cast are very dark and cut through the legs of the players.

Not all apps are 3.0+ compatible. Did you check to see if there is an update for the apps through the App Store?

I have heard (just rumors) that some developers are waiting for 3.1 before they update their apps incase their is any major changes in 3.1.

The 2G Touch I have is running 3.0

Other aspects are much quicker on the 3GS - web page rendering,app loading times etc

Something is not right, Tiger Woods Golf should run much better on the 3GS. Does for me compared to my old iPhone 3G. You may want to start fresh on your 3GS and restore as new. Don't use a backup file.

like JFSikora said, doesn't sound right. i run Tiger Woods Golf on my 3GS and it hums along quite nicely! so fast in fact, that the 'tip' screens are essentially flashed. the 3gs loads so quickly that you don't have enough time to read them. lol but i'll take it anyday over laggy performance.

The Ipod Touch 2G is quite a bit faster than the old 3G

Does anyone else have the shadow problem on Tiger Woods golf with OS 3.0.1? I've tried deleting it and then redownloading and reinstalling but it makes no difference

can't say i've noticed this one. i'll mess around with it today (i'm sure). i'll keep an eye out for it and let you know.

It should be faster on the 3gs. The whole purpose of the new iPhone was to upgrade the internals and make it faster...

Bottom line, the iPod Touch is not faster than the 3GS. I've tested it myself just yesterday with a buddies device. Tiger Woods is indeed slower on the Touch compared to my 3GS.

I've had zero issues with that particular game. I'd suggest a fresh restore as new. Good luck.

Yeah 2G is faster then 3GS, It plays all games fine.
