iOS concept: specifically; for future revisions and versions of Siri.

To begin: one evening, I was in the shower and a time alarm sounded. ( a strange setting for an idea, I know).

Moving on, the timer was set for 10 min to remind me to get out of the shower. Then it hit me. I came up with a realization and great review. Let's review quickly! Currently in iOS, one activates Siri by pressing and holding the home button.

Well, what if in future versions of iOS , one would be able to activate Siri with their voice. The user could either click the home button or say the command, "Siri." Siri would then respond, " What can I help you with?"

Moreover, let's say for instance that one is in the shower; wouldn't it be great if one could say Siri? The command would be recognized and Siri would respond. One proceeds to tell Siri to snooze the alarm. One also doesn't have to touch or manipulate anything with regards to the phone.

Thoughts?!

Thanks.

Android is already doing a version of this with Google Now. You can simply say "google" while on the google now screen to activate the voice assistant. I believe the Galaxy S2 and S3 have their own version of this as well with S Voice. I think their command is "Hey Galaxy".

If Siri were to take this idea on, except maybe being able to activate it at any time rather than when you are already on the Siri screen, I would find it a nice addition for sure, however having the Siri process constantly listening for you to say "siri" would surely kill your battery a lot faster, which is why I believe Google now only allows you to voice activate when you are on the Google Now home screen.

Oh. I didn't know that google now had already implemented this to some degree. Here's to hoping apple will implement something similar in the future. Thanks!

Siri needs to be able to answer "how much does this widget cost?" and tell us whether a store is open or not. Gas prices at various stations is a must.

I wish Siri was able to be upgraded from the App store like Google Now. Google is constantly adding updates to GN because they push it through the Play store. Just for Apple to update Siri, they have to push a whole iOS update. That makes Siri updates so far in between. As a matter of fact, Google does all their core apps like that. That's why they can update youtube, messages, mail, etc.. at anytime instead of pushing a whole operating system update.
