I am a happy owner of an iPhone 6s 64GB and from Christmas they gave me an iPhone 11 64GB. What is the best solution to transfer data from 6s to iPhone 11? It is better to restore the backup via iTunes, or use the new functionality via NFC/WiFi by put the new iPhone near the oldest 6s iPhone? Or are there still other systems to copy data and applications from the old to the new iPhone? Other doubt; on the 6s I have fingerprint recognition, which is no longer on the new iPhone 11; is better to disable it before performing the backup / transfer data?

Thanks a lot for any advice!!

Bye bye Jumpier

When I went from the 8+ to the Xs Max (one with Touch ID and the other with Face ID) it didn’t matter whether you disabled Touch ID first. Nice Christmas present you got :)

Just backup your iPhone 6S to either iCloud or iTunes and then restore that backup to your new iPhone 11. Either backup option should suffice. Personally, I prefer iTunes.

My kids got 11’s for Christmas. We just set the old phones next to the new ones, scanned the little swirly and let it do it’s thing. Both up and running in about 15mins.

That’s what I did when I went from the 7 Plus to the 11 Pro Max. Worked great.

Welcome to the iMore family!

I used the side by side method also when i upgraded to the 11...worked smooth. Hope that your transfer went well.

This was a very Apple Christmas and we all got new phones. I used the side-by-side method for all the phones (iPhone 7's to 11's and 11Pro's) also despite having the option of current iCloud backups. The only comment I'll make is be careful to not to inadvertently move the old phone out of range of the new. My daughter accidentally did and it would never start transferring again even after we canceled and restarted the transfer. We finally (courtesy of a Google search), did a hard reboot and then restarted the transfer successfully. Finally, once you're fully up and running, don't forget to go into iCloud and remove backups of the old phone if needed for space.

I have a 7 Plus and am considering one of the new 11s. Can you help on the upgrade features of the 11Pro Max, over just the 11Pro? Thank you for any help
