Free Personal Hotspot in iOS 5

I don't know if this is a bug, if this is limited to the verizon iphone, or what, but after upgrading to iOS 5 I have been using Personal Hotspot for free. It just shows up on my statement on vzw.com as me using data. FYI I do not have the $20/month Personal Hotspot feature.

Verizon has been giving personal hotspot for free to Palm's WebOS devices for a while now. Maybe the iPhone is the next to join the bandwagon!

Not on an AT&T phone with iOS5 Tried to turn it on and it stated that I needed to call AT&T.

Interesting, I did not know that. One can only hope... When it comes down to it, it is just data so if we are paying for that, especially once it becomes tethered, why not have it like this?

Mine is showing up on AT&T, but I had it on 4.3 as I was paying for it. I've since got rid of the option from AT&T, but it is still showing. Guess I need to check my account to make sure it's not being charged for it, and if not I've got free personal wi-fi!

With the way things are going (meaning how it seems reasons to jailbreak are being eliminated) I am starting to feel that this is how iOS 5 will be.

Verizon is currently offering free hotspots on several of their new phones. Maybe this is part of that promotion - or will be once iOS 5 is officially released.

The sad thing about a promotion is they eventually come to an end and then you must pay to keep the service

This must be an upcoming free feature for at least VZ iPhone users because I also have free Personal Hotspot. I'm staying with my brother for the weekend and he doesn't have WiFi. Thankfully, I can use this free hotspot feature on my Mac and iPad. THANK YOU IOS 5!

Hmm. I just got an iPhone about two weeks ago. Doesn't look like I can set up my Personal Hotspot without calling Verizon - which I presume means I gotta pay extra.

So is this feature ONLY available with iOS 5?

Currently only available on iOS 5 on VZW only. VZW runs specials all the time and then takes the feature away (look at the new phones - free hotspots for a limited time).

Jus change the apn in the cellular data column to the apn which is providing u cellular connectivity in the last column Internet tethering bam it will work it worked for me.....)))

I'm with Verizon and it wants me to call Verizon or go to the web site to enable personal hotspot on my account. Had my hopes up for a second...
