As crazy as this may sound I was snorkeling and what do I see on the ocean floor... An iphone 6 plus! Of course it is severely water damaged and will probably never work again. My question... What should I do with it? Is there a way to find the owner... Is it even worth the effort? Can it be used for parts?

You can take it to apple once you make a Genius Bar appt and get a replacement for about. $270 for accidental damage.

It beats paying $750 or more for a brand new one. I am amazed at how no one knows about apples accidental replacement policy.

Only works on a phone that is actually registered to you...and they have ways to find that out (which they will do when you go in for a replacement).

Got any other gems of advice for people on here? I'm hoping not.

Trust us, we know about Apple's policy. But there are two differences between us and you:

1. We are honest people who don't try to cheat the system.
2. We know and respect the limitations and restrictions of said replacement policy.

But thanks for playing...

Did you notice the username? Just sayin'....and no, this is not a knock on the member. Sean knows what I'm talking about.

I was not playing any games. As a forum we all have a right to give our two cents. What you do with that information is up to you. Judgements aside. You have your way so do it your way without judging others as people do too often.

P.S. When you say honest...is it honest if companies know they are taking advantage of employees with policies yet still practice them everyday? Or simply because they are corporations it is ok? FOOD FOR THOUGHT since someone brought up honesty.

What???

You're information was incorrect. The OP found the device. It didn't belong to him. Therefore, taking it to Apple is not an option. He found it in the ocean. It's trashed anyway.

That still doesn't explain why you advised that someone go try something that absolutely won't work. You may as well tell them to sprinkle fairy dust on it, throw it in the air 4 times and then repeat the phrase "Make this new! Make this new! Make this new!"...it'd have a similar outcome of still being an iPaper Weight.

Whatever you think you are talking about, THIS has nothing to do with what the OP posted. Keep those unrelated comments out.
