So I just experienced my first force close on my iPad Mini. I just got the iPad on Christmas, I was playing a game last night and the app just force closed on me. Is it something to worry about? Is it a device malfunction or the app itself?
After more than 15 years covering everything Apple, it’s with a heavy heart we announce that we will no longer be publishing new content on iMore and the iMore forums will be closing as of November 1st, 2024.
Well, you can't do anything about the lack of RAM. It's nothing to worry about, so long as you manage your running apps more efficiently. You'll have to keep track of this more, because of the matter of the RAM.

How do I manage my running apps more efficiently? Do you mean like going into the app switcher and holding the icons and tapping the red minus button?
First and Formost.. The Mini having 512 Megs of Ram is NOT your issue.. So stop listening to that..
iOS6 does an excellent job of managing Ram I can have a dozen apps open ( including HD games ) and there is not an issue.. Has you unit updated to 6.0.2 ? If so, you may just have a faulty unit.. If you have the ability to exchange unit you may want to consider doing that.. another option would be do delete and re-download those apps that are causing the F-Closes.. I have a Black 16g and it has not had a single hiccup period.
