My head...

Seriously though, the answer is that we don't know. I promise you that it won't be released before the keynote though. The keynote starts on Monday at 10am PST, and I am sure an announcement will be made there. It may be released right after, it may be released later in the week, in 2 weeks, etc.

Only time will tell.

Yup agreed. It won't be released before the keynote. It will be sometime after the keynote. The keynote will last over and hour so probably sometime around 2-3pm EST.

Have they timed any other updates in relation to any certain events? I do not know how fast Apple is on, flipping the switch on the web, vs running live events. I seem to remember half day delays from some announcements to web-availability/or even web information.

Past experience anyone???

With all the rumors floating around about the 3G iPhone being generally available on June 19th makes me wonder if the iPhone sofware 2.0 will not be available until then as well. Unless they want to get the App Store out as widely as possible. Hmm... something to think about.

Wouldn't one of the first steps towards offering iPhone 2.0 OSZ be to update iTunes? Or was that capability put in during a previous update?

I've only really started to be a Mac event follower after the iphone was released and it seems as though they released SOMETHING the same day as each event. Maybe the more Veteran Mac fans can attest to this? Has SOMETHING been released the same day of Jobso's keynotes every time? And I suppose you could say that nothing was really released for the true public after the SDK keynote, but still something was released. I'm really trying hard not to think the actually phone will be released so I am not disappointed but man I hope so.

Yeah I guess that's right. I'm beginning to think the iphone software 2.0 will be released tomorrow. I don't think apple will release the 3g iphone without the 2.0 software because it wouldn't make sense to have the latest and greatest phone with old software. If apple is promoting the app store, they would want the 3g iphone to have it. releasing the new iphone software tomorrow will also let apple work out the kinks before the new iphone comes out.

If 2.0 was only for the iPhone 3G, there will be two groups of people. Group 1: The people who can't wait to upgrade and in group 2: the people who will undoubtedly be upset because they cannot load the new software on the old iPhone, good thing this won't be the case.
