family sharing help

So my wife and i and two kids have shared the same account for apps for years. I see this new family sharing on IOS 8 and thought it would save me from headaches of answering each others calls and messages. I created a child ID for my 12 year old and turned on ask before buying and it does nothing . He goes to buy an app and has to bring the device to me for approval like before.
Problem two is my wife and I can't see each other in family sharing even though I emailed her an invite. I keep saying she has to leave a family to accept and our settings for icloud look the same on both phones . Do I need to wipe her device and get her her own apple id before it will work?
Problem three I turned on find my friends on all 4 devices , two ipod touches 5th gen and iphone 5 and 5s nothing. No idea I to see each other. I thought this would be great to track if kids are close to home or at school etc but can't get it to work. Device not found error message.

How do I know if he is signed into itunes?

just signed my son out under /settings/itunes&app store. and his new id took. so now i have to create a new one for my wife under her email address?


update I tryed to buy an app under my sons ID on his device and he went to a page asking for the credit card sec code it didn't send me a message on my device asking to ok it. How do I turn that on ? verfiy to buy is on my device.

i have two devices now with there own ids now i have to create one for my wife and log her in and see what happens.

so I have all are devices with 4 different apple id's but now how do I get my wifes phone off from my icloud on her phone?We logged her onto her own itunes acct but she can't get accepted into my family group until she leaves my family group first is the error we keep gettting . I am thinking her phone is still connected to icloud acct. yes or no?

Make sure on her phone she did not setup her own family share almost sounds like each each setup your own family vs only one setup and joining everyone to that one family

Each device or person should have there own Apple ID .. Even the kids

When u invite them to your family you are inviting them to your Apple ID account that is tied with payment info .. Basically you are the owner .. Once they all accept then u can pick what family member can approve purchases besides yourself and also have kids ask before purchases.
Make sure on each device in setting for icloud imessage facetime iTunes Store they are all signed in under there own Apple ID
