I was going to replace the battery on my iphone 5 . There is a huge difference in pricing from place to place, what is a fair price and what do I need to look for in a quality product?

What symptoms does your phone show that indicate you need a new battery? When do you get an upgrade with your carrier, if applicable? If I really needed it, I'd have to pay the $79 to Apple. It would help the resale of the phone.

In my opinion I would personally want a genuine Apple battery so in your neighborhood you might have a shop owner who specializes in this kind of thing who deals in genuine batters and less money does not always give you good work so it never helps to ask Apple and their genius bar what they charge for a batter replacement where you know their work is going to be stood behind so with that good luck and go from there on pricing.
