Hi all,

Just taken delivery of an iMac 27" 5k Retina with 3.3ghz Core i5 cpu, 8gb of RAM.

I was planning to upgrade the RAM myself to either 16gb or 24gb dependent on how cheap I can get it.

Now, the DDR3 PC14900 ram it came with is 1867mhz, and in the UK you can only get 1866mhz presently. Would this be a problem if I bought 8gb (2x4) of this memory (its Crucial), or am I better sourcing the correct speed with +1mhz from OWC in the states?

Thanks

i am not 100% sure but i think all that would happen is it would down clock the ram so your 1867 mhz would run at 1866 like the rest. If it were me i would just match what is in the mac currently

I've ordered it from the States. Better to keep it at optimum speed than save a few notes.

Thanks for your help.
