I am not sure that I understand the need for USB C. My MagSafe charger is USB C already. My MacBook Pro is USB C already. If I want to connect, I just plug in my existing cable that is already USB C. USB C is only a connector and no indication of data transfer speed or compatibility with any USB C power brick.

Having a USB C port on my iPhone isn’t guaranteed to prevent any compatibility issue with other USB C devices.
