If someone is that untrusting of their family ( who can also take the car keys ) then reboot the phone before sleeping. Then it requires a traditional unlock in the morning. Same if you get pinched. They can compel you to touch your finger but not to enter your passcode.

Recently (at least in one state) the passcode was protected by 5th amendment as it's something you know. http://m.imore.com/court-rules-cops-can-compel-you-surrender-your-fingerprint-unlock-iphone
