encryption - can anybody shed some light on this new feature

Very little has been written about the encryption feature in the new 3gs. Is it always on or is there a setting that you have to flip to enable it?

Does anybody have any insight. I guess it may be to early since the 3gs is not out. Apple has said very little.

Yes, please explain. What is being encrypted and why?

it is encryption at rest. Meaning all data or some data is encrypted. But details are very limited and there is one line or two about it on the apple website.
