Emoji only showing up as boxes on other Iphones any way to correct this only does it with the new icons

Have the people who are seeing the boxes updated their iOS lately?

I think they have to be on 9.1 My wife only sees the boxes when I flip her the bird and she is on 9.0

You may be right. I just tested it out by sending the aforementioned emoji to my son's iPad Mini running iOS 9.0.1 from my iPhone 6 Plus running iOS 9.1 Dev Beta 2, and only box with a question mark inside appeared.

I want to do a test. I am going to send myself the bird from my 9.1 test device to my other device. I know the ??color square comes up. Then I will upgrade to 9.1 on that device and see if it changes to the bird.

If it does not I am going to mass send the bird to everyone.

If you guys are sending emojis that aren't there on current ios 9.0.1, the receiver will receive it as Box with ? in it. Android has the middle finger emoji, which can't be seen on ios. Similarly the apple logo, goes through as a blank space on android and other devices.
