Downgrade from Mavericks back to Mountain Lion

Hi, I have been on Mavericks since it was released. And until now, I am not happy with it's performance. Everything just LOADS much slower compared to when I was on Lion/Mountain Lion. I have an Early 2011 13'' MBP, 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5, 8GB of RAM.

I have decided to downgrade back to Mountain Lion since I can't work properly with Mavericks. Is there any way I could downgrade to ML without deleting my files? I heard if you use Time Machine when you're in Mavericks, you won't be able to restore it on Mountain Lion.

Appreciate all the help. Thank you
