When choosing to send a photo via WhatsApp, the selection I'm presented with are just the selected images I've given WhatsApp access to. However, I noticed that when you want to change your profile photo or a group avatar, all the photos on the device are available, regardless of this setting.
When I have checked other apps such as Twitter, Vero etc, they all just show the restricted selection I have given the app access to for both profile pictures and posts.
Is this a privacy concern (ie can WhatsApp actually see all images regardless of privacy settings) or does their method still respect the privacy settings?
Seems odd that this is the only app which appears to have different settings for profile and message pictures and I'm naturally distrustful of Meta.
